It’s still sweltering hot…with no end in sight. Some of us are weathering it better than others. I wouldn’t be part of that “us”. I’m cranky, tired and bored. Oh yeah, and hella hot. Last night we sought to take our minds off the heat by losing ourselves in the epic “Lagaan“. The little man fell asleep during the opening credits, which left about 221 minutes to go. It was an excellent distraction, as Bollywood movies can be…with magnificient musical numbers and lovely landscapes. The acting was over the top at times, but still enjoyable. Unfortunately it choked…with about three scenes to go. Initially we’d tried to watch it in our regular DVD player, but it was unable to read the disc at all. We had better luck with the PS2, but it could only play it to a point. We tried skipping ahead of the scene that had killed it, but it was a no-go. As a last resort we ventured upstairs, the air growing thicker with each step, to enter the stifling computer room. But not even the DVD drive in J’s linux machine would get the danged DVD to work. At least it was predictable enough that there’s little doubt of the ending…but still, it would have been nice to see it for ourselves.
