What an action-packed day. Took the little man to the Children’s Museum early on, to enjoy their a/c as much as their exhibits. Came home afterwards and lounged (my joy was premature, the heat hasn’t entirely abated). Then I was given the green light to go out. When I got home the husband (formerly known as J) sarcastically queried “so, did you have fun with your internet friends?”…to which the reply was yes, quite a lot. Although I may have scared them a bit. I’m afraid I was in hyper-spazzy mode. Not only did I get to go out with one of my favorite girlfriends, I was able to go out with her to meet up with, yes, my “internet friends”…folks I’ve long-admired, and sometimes corresponded with, who share common interests. So first off, the IFP CinemaLounge was enjoyable. Hot as heck with the standing room crowd, but still a good time. Naturally the best bit was seeing Chuck’s latest incarnation of Blogumentary, which seemed to go over well…people mostly laughed in the right places, and non-webloggers got a kick out of it too. Afterwards I was able to meet, and blind (see photo below), the man himself…however briefly. And the woman behind the man. So that was swell. But we really clicked with the Perfect Duluth Day delegation. We decided to meet up at a cooler (temp-wise) and less crowded locale. So off to the new Uptown Chipotle it was. On the way I received a phone call from an old pal in Chicago…we last saw each other a couple of months ago, but so much has happened since then. So I tried to catch up as quickly as possible, with promises to write soon. Then I cruised us over to Chipotle, a little tardily (I refuse to be one of *those* people, chatting on the cell while they should be concentrating on their driving). We were able to hang out for a bit. Unfortunately 2/3 of our group has to get up for work (work, schmirk) in the morning…and there was still a long drive ahead for the Duluth crew (I wouldn’t mind another trip up there myself, but don’t see it happening anytime too soon). We parted ways amicably (with “Starfire” stuck in my head), and went on to the girls’ place. So sad. They’re moving out at the end of the month, into separate apartments. They’re ending their roommatehood on excellent terms, and will still be within blocks of each other, but it won’t be the same. I guess it doesn’t matter much, though, now that Buffy is over and gone. Our Tuesday nights together…oh lord, I’m gonna tear up. On a happier note, I snapped a quick photo of the Pez dispensers before they get all packed up…and I received a couple of gifts. Pussy Pots Vanilla Vulva Vegan Lip Balm (try saying that ten times fast) for me, and a Bubble Monkey blower for the little man. Yay, I love the girls! Back on the homefront I should be getting myself to bed, as the monkey will have me up bright and early. But I’m stalling to see if J has any success. Slashdot posted the news that the Matrix Revolutions trailer has been released, so we’re trying to download ourselves a copy. Watching it would be a perfect end to an almost-perfect day.
