Yesterday we spent the day recuperating after such an action-packed Saturday. Amazingly my trusty sidekick, the little man, put up with all of it without protest. We began Saturday by meeting up with yet another internet friend, at the local coffee shop. She’s a Seattle transplant who shares a number of interests with me (lomography, thrifting, and more) and happened to buy a house in our relatively unknown neighborhood. It’s been months since she first contacted me so I’m glad we finally met, F2F, as Chuck would say. After a quick stop at the credit union we went on to JoAnn Fabrics…which I didn’t realize would be mobbed by holiday shoppers. It was a freaking madhouse. But I managed to score some kickass pre-cut remnants, on the cheap, that I’ll be getting crafty with. My favorites…a large piece of red-orange vinyl for $1.11, and a strip of zebra print trim. Then it was on to Minneapolis, with a visit to the Wedge…to retrieve the vegan chicken nuggets that only they carry (not quite as good as the ones at Evergreen, but better than any other storebought brand). And finally, our main target of the day. Extreme Noise Records. I had it on good authority that my pal Tony would be in town, and pulling the 12-4 shift there, just like the old days. It’d been half a lifetime (the little man’s) since we’d seen him. We spent a good long while visiting, and snapping off a few photos. Actually, Saturday was also the final day in round two of the 26 Things International Photographic Scavenger Hunt. I managed to do all right this round…some shots I particularly like, others I didn’t manage to capture my intended subjects…and had to find substitutes. A few found me pulling over on the way home, and briefly hopping out of the car. The little man is so used to this erratic behavior that it doesn’t phase him one bit. Still, I would have liked to have photographed the foosball table at the rec center (they’d closed just before we arrived). But what can you do. My consolotion prize, I did capture the number four position when posting my results to the 26 Things site. The smartass husband noted this by remarking that “fools rush in”.
