As long as I won’t be leaving my computer room any time soon, I determined this here blog is in dire need of more purty pictures. And what could be purtier than the little man? That boy has a newfound love for a hat I’d nearly forgotten about. I bought it for him before he was born, when I was shopping in the medina in Marrakech, Morocco, while he was still in utero. Now, nearly five years later, the hat finally fits him perfectly…and makes him look even more like a little hipster. And now for the oddball pix. Though my father is an artist, I am not blessed with his gifts. He can paint a portrait that looks like a photograph. His absent-minded doodles are masterpieces to me. But I still enjoy making homemade cards for friends and family. And with the little man’s contributions, there’s no stopping us. Last weekend we made a birthday card for the now-old Dave (who reminds me I will always be older) and a card to mark the husband’s vegan anniversary. Unfortunately the gifts I’d ordered for the guys hadn’t arrived yet…so I made due with looking at them online, while making freehand approximations. The one on the left is supposed to represent the husband’s new cookbook, The Artful Vegan from The Millenium Restaurant. The one on the right is for Dave’s copy of Gigantic: A Tale of Two Johns, a movie about They Might Be Giants (who we missed the other night because I was feeling crappy…but I heard the in-store was awesome). Hopefully I didn’t fail miserably with my renderings.
