Parenthood poses new and interesting challenges for non-Christians such as myself. Thus far we’ve been participating in the holidays, to a limited extent. I enjoy the time spent with busy family members who have extra days off from work. And we do exchange gifts, albeit on a smaller scale than most, as I’ve always enjoyed wrapping and giving presents. But some may find it sad that I’ve never mentioned Santa to the little man. We’re removed enough from the mainstream that it hasn’t been an issue. So when we drive past the neighbor’s house he correctly identifies the giant inflatable snowman in their yard…but to him the Santa is just some roly-poly guy in a red suit.
