Every Time A Bell Rings A Balrog Gets Its Wings

Been meaning to give a shoutout to the husband for a while…for giving me the heads up on The Encyclopedia of Arda, an incredibly thorough reference guide to the works of J.R.R. Tolkien. Got my reminder to do so when it recently showed up on Metafilter. Turns out the movie-goer’s guide to The Return of the King was just posted. Sadly I know what I’ll be doing this evening (it’s guy’s night out for the husband…or guy’s night in, rather, as he heads over to geek out at our friend’s house. They may even get in a game of Go). But I’m not holding my breath for a Peter Jackson-made version of The Hobbit. Only time will tell, I guess. In other shoutouts, lately I’ve been amazed by and enamored with a number of illustrators online…some I’ve known about for a while, others I’ve just been introduced to. Current faves include, but are not limited to, Keri Smith, Danny Gregory, Witold Riedel, John Martz, Anoushka Matus, Christine Castro, Claire Robertson, and Kozyndan. Of course I can’t help wondering why my father couldn’t have passed his talents in this area on to me. Oh well. At least I’ve got my camera.
