This afternoon the little man and I made another incursion into the suburbs and, I have to admit, we quite enjoyed ourselves. The City of Woodbury has built a strange and wondrous place. It’s a 20,000 square foot structure containing a large library, a park area with waterfalls (that splash onto fake boulders straight out of some Star Trek set), and, the best part, the indoor playground. The big kids are back in school now so we had the place to ourselves. Or very nearly. The little man hit it off with some other playground patrons, a pair of identical twin sisters from Turkey. The language barrier wasn’t, really. They gestured and chased after each other and squealed and screamed and had good fun. For some reason, though, the little man was distraught if the sisters became separated…and kept trying to round them up so that he would be chasing after both of them, or vice versa. Very odd. And though their mother admitted to having a tough time with English, we still got on well. Well enough that we coordinated our efforts when we wanted to leave (after 2+ hours) and were able to herd the children out all together like. Afterwards the lad and I made a quick stop at the World Market, spending too much on vegan-friendly goods and holiday gift wrap (at 75% off). Back home it’s been a continuation of Beatlemania, with only one more disc to go in the anthology. Earlier the husband and I took a break to make dinner together. He was getting on my nerves a bit, as will happen whenever you live with other humans (a la Margret and Mil) when We Can Work It Out popped into my head and became firmly lodged there. I would say that this is my earworm du jour, but it turns out that my dear friends, the lovely ladies, don’t care for the term. I am open to any alternate suggestions.
