The Man Who Walked Between The Towers

Our word for the day is “funambulist“. I realize it’s early yet, but I came to this decision after reading about Frenchman Philippe Petit, and his 1974 tightrope walk between the World Trade Center towers. His feat was immortalized in an award-winning children’s book by author/illustrator Mordicai Gerstein. For some reason I hadn’t heard about this illustrious achievement before…nor did I know of Mr. Gerstein before this morning (many thanks to Loobylu). But what I’ve seen of his artwork was compelling enough that I’ll be looking for more of it, when the little man and I visit the library later in the day. Oh, and speaking of strange feats of physicality, now there’s House Gymnastics (via Lalaland):
“Harrison&Ford House Gymnastics is a cross breed of yoga, breakdancing, climbing and gymnastics in a domestic setting. House Gymnastics can be performed by anyone, at anytime, anywhere. The greater the height or danger, the better the move.”
A “do not try this at home” disclaimer is noticeably absent from their site (though they do have a disclaimer, of sorts)…but it’d probably be best if I look at the photos when the little man is not in the room. The boy is such a daredevil.
