The universe has been throwing a few more hurdles my way than usual. And while I may not nimbly leap over them like a graceful gazelle, I have been brute forcing my way through and around them. For I am mighty! A crushing dominating force! To be feared! Oh wait, I don’t want to frighten the new roommate. He moves in tomorrow. I’d never really gotten serious about the roommate search, but somehow the universe provided in this instance. Fingers crossed that it’s a good fit. I remain cautiously optimistic.
Staying on the posi tip, five (or more) good things:
- Today’s post title came courtesy of an interesting sounding compilation. The discovery of which led me to Buraka Som Sistema, also via the kexp blog. After a Brian Eno morning, I’m all about kuduro this afternoon! But also today? I enjoyed this proto punk playlist on Songza’s home page.
- The Daily What: Well This Is Something You Don’t See Every Day. Go on, take a gander. It made me smile. As did the World Superhero Registry.
- While I eagerly await my copy of On Tender Hooks I’m happy to see it is already receiving rave reviews: The Pop Culture Genius of Artist Isabel Samaras
- More McSweeney’s love: “Angry Farewell Notes From Runaway Dogs“
- Imponderables from a galaxy far, far away…Star Wars WTF? On a related note, Carrie Fisher is really quite funny. And in the someone-has-too-much-time-on-their-hands department, a photoshopped cross-universe mash-up of Princess Leia kissing Captain Kirk.
So yes, things are looking up ever so slightly. I’m hoping the universe continues to roll that way, lest I revert to SHARYN SMASH mode. You wouldn’t like me when I’m angry.

Have you read any of Carrie Fisher’s books? They’re really quite funny as well.
I haven’t! And until you brought it up I’d completely forgotten she wrote Postcards From the Edge. I need to hit up the library.

Hahahahaha! That doesn’t mean I look jaundiced, does it?
