Yesterday I nearly took my son to see the movie 9, as the date was 9/9/9 and he is only 9 years old for a few more days and all. But after re-watching the trailer and reading Ebert’s review I figured it might be just a touch too scary for the lad, despite his love of Corpse Bride. And of all things Tim Burton, really. Instead I plan to preview the movie before he sees it.
Five good and/or just plain weird things:
- This Saturday, an All You Can Eat Hot Dog Fundraiser - for the Art Shanty Projects. Veggie dogs will be available.
- The Minnesota State Fair’s Lost and Found looks like it would be a fun place to go poking around.
- Atheists offer to care for Christians’ pets after the Rapture. But poodles, watch out! Although I think poodles may look better masquerading as other animals. Hmmm.
- Next year I need to get it on some secret wild blueberry patches, so I can make my own (veganized) wild blueberry crisp.
- Oh man, I want an Ira Glass finger puppet!
About the below photo, taken at my house on Labor Day, everyone seems to think Pete looks sorta scary and tough: “and a great portrait of an intimidating dude + popsicle from Helados y Paletas La Chiquita” Perhaps I’ll have to post the photo taken a moment after this, when he was clearly laughing at himself.

he does look kind of menacing…in a sexy way :)
I love your links. I also wonder why I never tried to cash in on my Atheism to watch peoples pets. Someone always thinks of these things before me!
We took Wesley to watch 9 the day it came out. He’s seven, going to be eight in October. I have to say if I had seen it myself first I’m not sure that I would have taken him. It is pretty intense, but he seemed to do well with it and has been thanking us nonstop for taking him.
Cherie, I know, right? Heehee.
DW - no doubt!
Heather, nice! I showed Parker the trailer but he was hesitant, thinking it looked too scary. We’ll see.
