Thinking The Light

Last night we found out that Parker’s first biological first cousin had been born, the night before. Another boy, but in California. This is his paternal uncle’s offspring. Our very small family has grown just a little bit. But it would have been nice for Parker to have a cousin or two closer in age, and in proximity. Still, welcome to the world, new little man. We hope to meet you before long.

In cooking news, I plan to move beyond the No-Knead Bread recipe I’ve been using, though it has served me well, and move on into multi-grains. I want to start making something with more texture. Also? Swell vegan has had me distracted by thoughts of frosting this week. Avocado lime in particular. So very intriguing. But for now I’m off to the kitchen to bake some sort of apple pecan muffin concoction.

I think that Marines project page is out of date. I don’t think you could get one pack of Polaroid film for $400, much less 20 of them…

I failed miserably at that no-knead bread recipe, I think we are too low [sea level] and damp over here. Yours looks really good. Have you seen the Artisan Bread in 5 Minutes book? a friend strongly recommended it, I just got my copy from the library…

Military might get a deal from various outlets that still have film. Otherwise you can at least get 5 packs for ~$200.

I was wondering about that too, you guys, and hoping that they do get some sort of deal on it as I really like the idea behind that project.

As for the bread, my house is plenty dry so it turns out well in the winter. Haven’t tried making it in the humid months yet. I want to try some recipes from that book but hadn’t thought to check it out from the library. That’s genius!
