I realize how lame and pedestrian it is to complain about the weather, but damn if that heatwave didn’t just about do me in. In a moment of middle-of-the-night genius I decided to book a hotel room for the boy and I, so we could drench ourselves in pool water rather than our own stupid sweat…and a few friends decided to join us last night. Just for the swimming part. Today, mercifully, the heat has broken. Which makes me ridiculously happy.
Five other fantastic things for this wildly busy Thursday:
- The Eat Ramen / Help Japan benefit is tonight.
- It’s also Third Thursday–Bike Night at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. And the kick off of The Bicycle Film Fest.
- Things are really happening at the Walker today. First Music for Parking Garages from 3pm - 8pm and then, at 9:15 & 9:45, Tragedy on the Sea Nymph, An Operetta in Three Acts Starring an All-Dog Cast
- I’ve volunteered to photograph an event for The Soap Factory at the end of the month. The Amazing Adventures of the Corporate Wizard in the Land of LARP. It’s going to be amazing and ridiculous!
- Soon there will be a “small room” show at the Triple Rock featuring iceage from Denmark. I’ve really been enjoying their “New Brigade” release. Should be good times.
If only I could squeeze in some beach time before all of tonight’s busy-ness! But it can wait.
