We had a ridiculous heatwave over the weekend, with record highs on my son’s birthday. Followed by brutal thunderstorms. And now I’m capping things off with a crappy end-of-summer cold, providing my very own personal temperature fluctuations.
So how about Five Good Things for this bed/couch-ridden Tuesday?
- Woke up feeling lousy today but at least there’s the Captain Marvel trailer. And Brie Larson’s tweet about it is perfect.
- Even with a busy weekend I managed to binge watch Season 5 of Bojack Horseman. And it was as wonderful as ever. One episode was particularly affecting. That show makes me feel so many feelings.
- Sometimes it’s the little things. Over the weekend my neighbors introduced me to my new favorite ginger beer, from Australia.
- Managed to get a ticket to the Mountain Man show at The Cedar. Their new album, Magic Ship, is streaming on NPR First Listen.
- I don’t have the patience to watch award shows but I do enjoy seeing the highlights. And last night’s Emmy Awards even included a surprise marriage proposal.
Random sick day thoughts. I was remembering Cagney & Lacey. When I was a kid I thought those actresses must be SO old. Turns out Tyne Daly and Sharon Gless were only 35 and 38 respectively when the show premiered. Shared this information with a friend who replied with “I thought they were Old Grownups and now I’m much older than they were then and I feel like a large kid.” Yep.
